Welcome to The Vintners Voice, please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Jerry D. Murray and my hope is to create a blog that discusses wine production, both in the vineyard and winery, but does so in a way that appeals to wine lovers as well as winemakers.  My posts will largely consist of reflections on the process of growing and making wine and the intellectual exploration of production topics.  This blog will NOT review wines but may discuss wines that I feel are noteworthy or producers that I find inspiring.  I will resist the urge to use big words and refrain from being a know-it-all.

I have worked in cellars on three continents; Martinborough Vineyard and Highfield Estate in New Zealand, Weingut Selbach-Oster in Germany's Mosel Valley and numerous producers in Oregon.  Being a self proclaimed Pinot Freak I make my home in Oregon's Willamette Valley.  Prior to wine I; cooked in numerous kitchens in New Orleans, Tucson and Portland, taught anatomy at a medical school, tended bar, raised hogs and studied mischief. I currently hold the position of Winemaker/Vineyard Manager at Patton Valley Vineyard near Gaston, Oregon.

The views expressed here are mine and mine only and are not those of my friends, employers or the Oregon Wine Industry.
